Debra Ann Hastings completed her life’s journey on 26 November, 2022 after 68 wonderful years. As a loving daughter, mother, and wife, she doted on her children and grandchildren. She had a knack for figuring out what they loved best and giving that generously. Her unquestioning faith in Christ inspired those around her to be the best people they could be.
Born Debra Ann Travis in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she attended Kirkwood Community College and became an LPN, later attending IUPUI to become an RN. While in Cedar Rapids, she met her husband Michael through church. They were together more than 50 years from their first date to her final breath. She worked nights, primarily at St Francis Hospital. Frieden’s United Church of Christ brought her community in Christ, and later she also attended Emmanuel Church of Greenwood. Her devotion to God filled her life with joy and purpose. After retirement, she loved being with her children, grandchildren, and friends, and traveling around the world with her husband.
She is preceded in God’s Kingdom by her father, Bruce Travis, and her younger brother, Dan Travis. She is survived by her husband Michael, her mother Julia Travis, her children Ryan, Neil (Alyssa), Heather (Russell) Bever, and Kelli (Joshua) Gerber, and her grandchildren Madison, Ben, Kyra, Alethea, Alex, Haddon, Camden, Brooks, Douglass, Will and Riley.
At her request, no services will be held. Instead, she wishes everyone to take a trip with their family and be sure to do some shopping. In lieu of flowers, donate to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the National Brain Tumor Society.
