IFCA All-State football teams named

Fresh off an unprecedented third consecutive Class 6A state championship, it should have come as little surprise that Center Grove dominated the IFCA’s All-State teams yet again.

Four Trojans — offensive lineman Austin Wiese, running back Micah Coyle, linebacker Owen Bright and defensive back Jalen Thomeson — were listed among the IFCA’s Top 50, the highest tier of All-State recognition. Center Grove also had offensive lineman Charlie Gardner on the Class 6A Senior All-State team and two players, wideout Noah Coy and quarterback Tyler Cherry (listed as an athlete) on the 6A Junior All-State squad.

Center Grove head coach Eric Moore shared IFCA Coach of the Year honors, while Chad Daniels was named the top assistant in Class 6A.

Class 5A state runner-up Whiteland was also well represented. Tight end Cameron Cooper, offensive lineman Tayton Schakel, running back Peyton Emberton, defensive lineman Mason Darlington and linebacker Brady Stanifer were named to the 5A Senior All-State team, with sophomore defensive back Nyrius Moore-Smith making the junior squad. Franklin landed three players on the 5A senior team — offensive lineman Reece Byerly, defensive lineman Jake Houston and defensive back Beau Baker — while Clay Pinnick was named to the 5A junior team as a punter.

Roncalli’s Trevor Lauck and Luke Hansen earned Top 50 recognition at offensive line and running back, respectively. The Royals also put three players on the Class 4A Senior All-State team — offensive lineman Luke Skartvedt, defensive lineman Luke Swartz and defensive back Andrew Baugh. Greenwood’s Carter Campbell was also a 4A senior honoree at tight end.

Indian Creek quarterback Arjun Lothe was named to the Class 3A Senior All-State team as an athlete.
