The County Line Road interchange is officially complete, with a new northbound on-ramp to State Road 37 now open.
Along with construction workers completing the interchange, they shifted State Road 37 to new pavement near County Line Road. The road’s speed limit will remain 45 mph, as crews complete more work, such as finishing new pavement between Southport Road and Edgewood Avenue in Indianapolis before the end of the year, according to a weekly construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Workers have also made progress on the other side of Johnson County. Banta Road, near the Morgan County line, closed permanently at State Road 37 last week, meaning the first stoplight on the road north of Evansville stands at Smith Valley Road. The State Road 144 interchange is expected to be complete before the holidays, as workers are close to finishing the State Road 144 on-ramp to southbound Interstate 69, INDOT officials say.
Crews are also working on an interchange bridge over Smith Valley Road. Daytime closures will affect the dedicated turn lane from northbound State Road 37 to Smith Valley Road, although right turns will remain open, INDOT officials say.
In Marion County, crews will install a permanent Mann Road traffic signal at the intersection of Thompson Road and the Interstate 465 eastbound on-ramp. Continued median work along I-465 between the White River and State Road 37 will result in nighttime left lane closures. There will also be single-lane closures near the Carson Avenue overpass, which INDOT officials say will be completed next week.
Wicker Road is now open to one lane in each direction near State Road 37 after temporary traffic signals were removed, INDOT officials say.
In Morgan County, State Road 37 south of State Road 144 will officially transition to I-69 later this month, increasing the speed limit to 70 mph, INDOT officials say.
