Horizon Bank to host one-day challenge for Salvation Army donations Friday

Horizon Bank officials are challenging customers to give to the Salvation Army during a special event today.

Fifteen Horizon Bank branches in eight Indiana counties, including Johnson County, will host special Red Kettles in their lobbies as part of a $4,000 match challenge during normal business hours on Friday. For one day only, customers and visitors will have a chance to double the impact of their donations to their local Salvation Army, according to a Salvation Army news release.

Five local branches are taking part in the challenge:

  • 507 Three Notch Lane, Bargersville
  • 100 W. Main Cross St., Edinburgh
  • 420 N. Morton St., Franklin
  • 151 Marlin Drive, Greenwood
  • 942 U.S. Highway 31, Greenwood

Horizon Bank, which has over 80 locations across Indiana and Michigan, has offered the match to encourage their customers to support the important efforts of The Salvation Army as they help their neighbors in need. This has been a challenging year for many Hoosier households, making the match especially appreciated in each service area, the news release says.

The funds raised will support Salvation Army facilities in Greenwood, Columbus, Lafayette, Logansport and Fountain County. It will also support the Indianapolis Harbor Light Center and the Ruth Lilly Women and Children’s Center in downtown Indianapolis, Salvation Army officials say.

Vital services at these facilities include housing and support for homeless and abused women, food pantries and feeding programs, emergency financial assistance, youth camps and sports, addiction treatment and more, officials say.
