College notebook: Willoughby leads Spartans past Grizzlies

Manchester sophomore guard Logan Willoughby finished with 22 points, four rebounds and three steals to lead the Spartans men’s basketball team to a 78-74 win at Franklin College. Another former Whiteland player, senior Carter Crowe, had 11 points and four boards for the Grizzlies.

Junior swimmer John Hasquin helped Franklin College’s 200 free relay team win with a time of 1 minute, 30.3 seconds in the team’s 159-47 defeat of host Anderson.

Trayce Jackson-Davis finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots as Indiana men’s basketball lost to Arizona, 89-75, in Las Vegas.

Senior guard Spencer Piercefield had six points, six assists and three rebounds to help Indiana Wesleyan score an 86-52 triumph over visiting Bethel.

Vermont guard Emma Utterback scored 17 points and grabbed four rebounds in the team’s 56-54 loss at Duquesne.

Senior guard Cassidy Hardin had five points and two steals for the Purdue women’s team as it downed visiting Illinois State, 64-51.

Claire Rake finished with five points, two boards and a steal for Truman State in its 72-59 loss at Southwest Baptist.

Bentley lost at home against Adelphi, 59-57, even though senior guard Ella Thompson finished with 11 points and three rebounds.

Greenwood Christian

Champ McCorkle had eight points and two rebounds as Wabash College men’s basketball defeated visiting Denison, 74-66. Styles McCorkle finished with two rebounds and an assist.

Sophomore Izzy Reed had three points, three boards and three steals for Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball in a 64-40 rout of visiting Bethel.

Franklin College senior diver Faith Jackson was runner-up in the 1-meter competition during the Grizzlies’ 153-53 victory at Anderson.

Franklin College freshman swimmer Nick Coy was part of the victorious 200 freestyle relay in the Grizzlies’ win at Anderson. In the women’s meet, freshman Jyllian Antle was part of the victorious 200 medley relay, while junior Regan Hendricks won the 500 freestyle and swam on the winning 200 free relay.

Radford guard Ashlyn Traylor had 14 points, six boards and two assists in the team’s 67-54 home loss to Liberty.

Freshman guard Kuryn Brunson had three points, two rebounds and a steal for Wabash Valley College in its 91-74 triumph at Moberly Area Community College in Missouri.

Ball State sophomore guard Maddie Bischoff (Greenwood) scored 10 points, made four assists and grabbed four rebounds as the women’s basketball squad won at Pitt, 68-66.
