Here’s the latest on I-69 construction in Johnson County

Work on Interstate 69 will take a holiday pause after Wednesday but some work is planned this week in Marion County.

I-69 officially reached Johnson County Friday, when transportation leaders opened the southbound ramp at State Road 144. The interstate now runs uninterrupted from Evansville to the west edge of Johnson County, completing work in Morgan County and increasing the speed limit to 70 miles per hour. Johnson County work, including completing the Smith Valley Road interchange, will resume next year, according to a construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

In Marion County, utility workers are installing a permanent traffic signal at Mann Road after they removed existing power lines along Interstate 465. Drivers on I-465 should be aware of flaggers until Tuesday, when workers switch on the permanent Mann Road signal. Crews will also complete work on the Carson Avenue I-465 bridge early this week, it is the fifth and final bridge to be rebuilt over I-465 as part of the I-69 project, INDOT officials say.

Construction workers will take a break starting Wednesday for the holidays. Work will resume in January, but drivers should always be alert when traveling through work zones, , INDOT officials say.
