Good Cheer Fund drive wrapping up

In the midst of high inflation, the annual Good Cheer Fund food distribution is more important than ever.

The Good Cheer Fund is an annual effort to pass out holiday food baskets to the needy throughout Johnson County. Baskets include a mix of canned foods and fresh items, such as a ham or chicken, eggs, milk and cheese.

This year’s baskets were delivered to grateful families the weekend before Christmas, but donations are needed for next year’s campaign.

Earlier this month organizers said donations were lagging and more help was needed to carry on the tradition that has been going strong for 101 years. The more donations are given, the more families in need can be helped next Christmas.

Donations are being accepted to support the Good Cheer Fund until the end of December.

Donations can be mailed to the Daily Journal, P.O. Box 699, Franklin, IN 46131 or dropped off at our office at 30 S. Water St., Suite A, Franklin from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
