Lucy I. (Shane) Smith, 99, of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park in Franklin, IN.
She was born May 30, 1923 in Hendricks County, Indiana. She married Thomas Roger Smith on October 18, 1941 in Clayton, IN, he preceded her in death on March 14, 2007.
Lucy was a 1941 graduate of Clayton High School in Clayton, IN and attended Center Grove High School in Greenwood, IN.
She had been the chair of the loan committee at Methodist Hospital Credit Union in Indianapolis, IN for 12 years. She also had served later as a volunteer at Hendricks Regional Hospital for 15 years.
Lucy was a member of Friendswood Baptist Church in Camby, IN.
Survivors include her daughter Linda J. McDaniel and son-in-law Danny of Bargersville, IN, a son Daniel L. Smith of St. Louis, MO, two grandchildren Lesa Frazier (Eric) of Berlin, PA and Darin K. McDaniel (Katie) of Napa Valley, CA, three great-grandchildren Ethan Frazier, Lindsay Frazier and Evelyn “Evie” McDaniel.
Her father Roy Lee Shane, mother Dorothy Thompson, brothers James Shane and Jason Shane, and a sister Louise Tinnell preceded her in death.
Pastor Dustin Hite of First Christian Church in Bargersville will conduct a graveside service on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 3PM at Center Valley Cemetery on State Road 39 in Clayton, IN with burial to follow.
Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
