Shots fired call leads to arrest in Franklin

Franklin police arrested a man in connection to a Wednesday evening report of shots fired at a residence in the Branigin Woods subdivision.

At approximately 9:35 p.m. Wednesday Franklin officers were dispatched to Branigin Woods on a report of possible shots fired near the 1000 block of Aberdeen Court, a press release from Franklin police says.

A homeowner reported several shots fired at a residence near their home, according to the daily Media Report provided by Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Franklin officers were unable to locate the source of the alleged gunfire and there was no initial evidence of gunfire located. Shortly thereafter officers received information about the possible persons involved in the incident and called in Franklin police investigations, the release says.

Investigators got a warrant and called the Johnson County SWAT team to help with the execution of the warrant, due to the circumstances of the gun incident. The release did not elaborate on what evidence was gathered that lead them to request the warrant.

Amos Wayne Crenshaw, 39, of Franklin, was taken into custody without incident. Crenshaw was arrested on an initial charge of criminal recklessness is currently being held at the Johnson County jail, according to jail records as of Thursday afternoon.

No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire. Franklin police say there is no current threat to the neighborhood or Franklin at large.
