CARRIE CLAYBURN MEMORIAL DINNER, 5 p.m. Jan. 7, Indian Creek High School cafeteria, 803 W. Indian Creek Dr., Trafalgar

The Indian Creek community was dealt a blow in 1998, when former student Carrie Clayburn died from acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis just months after her graduation from Indian Creek High School. Her memory lives on in a scholarship created in her name, and people can help support that fund during this annual benefit dinner.

The event includes a pork chop dinner prepared by Indian Creek FFA members as well as local churches. Clayburn was active in 4-H and was a member of a soil judging team at Indian Creek High School. She was named the FFA chapter’s Outstanding Female Member of 1997-98.
