College notebook: Hacker helps Bellarmine pick up road win

Redshirt freshman guard and former Center Grove basketball player Landin Hacker tallied 13 points off the bench for Bellarmine in its 69-65 triumph at North Alabama.

Center Grove

Senior guard Ben Nicoson had three points and an assist as the University of Indianapolis men’s basketball team improved to 11-2 with its 97-61 win over Ohio Christian.

Truman State guard Claire Rake came off the bench to score 13 points, grab three rebounds and distribute a pair of assists in a 66-35 win against William Woods University.

Emma Utterback finished with seven points, three assists and two rebounds for Vermont women’s basketball in its 58-57 home loss to UMBC. Utterback then had 20 points and three steals as the Catamounts improved to 9-6 with a 68-67 overtime victory at Bryant.

Senior guard Cassidy Hardin had three points and two assists for Purdue in its 73-61 victory over visiting Wisconsin.

Senior guard Ella Thompson had nine points, six assists and three rebounds as Bentley defeated visiting William Pierce, 86-50. She contributed 13 points and two boards in the team’s 78-41 win over St. Rose.

Greenwood

Indiana wrestler Nick Willham performed well at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships in Hoffman States, Illinois, winning three of his five matches in the 197-pound weight class.

Anderson sophomore forward Gavin Dowling had 10 points and six boards as the men’s basketball team won at Manchester, 99-97.

Whiteland

Senior Carter Crowe finished with seven points and three rebounds for Franklin College men’s basketball in an 85-66 loss at Rose-Hulman.

Greenwood Christian

Junior forward Champ McCorkle scored 12 points and sophomore Styles McCorkle added eight to help Wabash College men’s basketball down visiting Edgewood, 90-63. The Little Giants won at Kenyon, 71-67, with Styles and Champ scoring seven and four points, respectively.

Roncalli

Ball State’s 119-53 women’s basketball victory over visiting Chicago State included sophomore guard Maddie Bischoff finishing with nine points, two rebounds and two assists. The Cardinals defeated Bowling Green, 81-73, with Bischoff scoring three points.
