College notebook: Creech picks up HCAC diving honors … again

Franklin College senior Gauge Creech picked up Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference male diver of the week honors for the 20th time in his career and seventh time this season. Creech, a Franklin High graduate, most recently won the 1-meter event at the Colonel Classic at Centre College.

For the FC women’s squad, junior Regan Hendricks placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke at the Colonel Classic in a time of 2 minutes, 42.66 seconds.

Center Grove

Indiana senior men’s basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis had 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots in the Hoosiers’ 85-66 loss at Penn State.

Senior guard Spencer Piercefield scored two points and grabbed four rebounds as Indiana Wesleyan won at Grace College, 72-67.

Bentley women’s basketball player Ella Thompson nearly achieved double-double status in a 64-42 victory at American International, finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists. The senior guard had eight points, five boards and three assists in a 76-48 defeat of No. 18 Assumption.

Purdue guard Cassidy Hardin knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for six points in her team’s 80-59 home loss to Michigan. She also had two rebounds, an assist and one steal.

Senior guard Emma Utterback scored 10 points to go along with five assists in helping lead Vermont to a 72-55 victory over visiting New Hampshire. She had 14 points, three rebounds and two steals in her team’s 42-37 win over UMass Lowell.

Whiteland

Franklin College senior swingman Carter Crowe produced 15 points and eight rebounds in a 71-62 loss to Anderson. He had 12 points, three boards and three assists in a 79-74 victory over visiting Hanover.

Greenwood

Faith Jackson, a diver at Franklin College, earned HCAC female diver of the week recognition for the 16th time in her career after winning the 1-meter competition during the Colonel Classic at Centre College.

Anderson sophomore forward Gavin Dowling had four points, six rebounds and two assists as the Ravens won at Franklin College, 71-62. Dowling had eight rebounds and three steals in a 91-88 double-overtime win at Defiance.

Greenwood Christian

Wabash College sophomore Styles McCorkle had three points and two steals as the Little Giants defeated visiting Wooster, 83-68. Junior Champ McCorkle came off the bench to score five points and corral a team-high 10 rebounds with Styles McCorkle adding six points and three boards in an 83-67 win at Hiram.

Sophomore Izzy Reed finished with six points, a rebound and steal as Indiana Wesleyan improved to 15-3 in women’s basketball with a 103-56 defeat of Goshen College.

Roncalli

Ball State women’s basketball won at Western Michigan, 76-70, with Cardinals sophomore guard Maddie Bischoff scoring 11 points, collecting two rebounds and making a steal. Bischoff had four points and two rebounds in BSU’s 83-76 loss at Toledo.
