A $50,000 grant from the Elba and Gene Portteus Branigin Foundation will help support experiential learning opportunities for Franklin College students.
The grant is a follow-up to the $100,000 grant in 2016 to establish the Elba and Gene Portteus Branigin Engaged Learning Fund, which supports regional and national experiences such as internships, research opportunities, conference presentations and academic and professional competitions as part of the college’s Branigin Engaged Learning program, according to a Franklin College news release.
Franklin College and the Branigin Foundation have long been partners, assisting students with a variety of experiences, Franklin College President Kerry Prather said in the release.
Those opportunities support undergraduate research and professional development, said Kristin Flora, the college’s dean and vice president for academic affairs.
“The generous philanthropy of the Branigin Foundation continues to provide life-changing opportunities for students and has a profound effect on our entire campus,” she said.
