Sue Anne (Graham) Misiniec, 73, lifelong resident of Franklin, IN passed away peacefully Thursday January 19th, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Susie was born January 22, 1949 to Floyd and Eleanor (Sanders) Graham. She married Andrew James “Jim” Misiniec Jr. on November 4, 1967 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Franklin, IN. He proceeded her in death in 2005. Together they had 4 children, the 4-J’s: Jason (Heather) Misiniec of Bicknell, IN; Jennifer (Thad) Westerfeld of Franklin, IN; Jessica (David) Coy of Greenwood, IN; and Jill (Aaron) Down of Wyoming, IL. 8 grandchildren: Alyssa “Allie” (Levi) Purdue, Emma (Austin) Farmer, Brett Kinslow, Jacob Misiniec, Hayden Westerfeld, Alexis “Lexie” Misiniec, Kaizer Down, Korbin Down and a great-grandson, Walker James Purdue. Other survivors include a brother Mark (Carole) Graham of Franklin, IN, sister Mary (Mike) Hughes of Greenwood, IN, sister-in-law Judy Misiniec of Trafalgar, IN and brother-in-law Joe Bill Misiniec of Franklin, IN, companion for many years, Doug Lechner of Needham, IN and her best friends, “The Girls”: Elaine Stewart, Marsha Robinson and Doris Scroggins, and several nieces and nephews.

Susie began her career with Johnson County government in 1985 working in Planning and Zoning. She then moved to the Recorders office where she then served two terms as Johnson County Recorder. She was then elected Johnson County Clerk again serving two terms in office until her retirement in 2018.

One of her most notable accomplishments during her career as Clerk was the implementation of early voting and The Vote Center Plan for Johnson County that was adopted by the Johnson County Election Board and put into place in time for the 2012 Presidential Election. Susie was a valued civic leader and was very proud of her efforts to bring the first change to the voting process in over 150 years to the voters of Johnson County.

Susie was actively involved in the Johnson County Republican Party, Johnson County Republican Women’s Club, Indiana State Recorder’s Association, Indiana State Clerk’s Association; Johnson County 4-H Association, serving two terms on the Johnson County Fair Board. She was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Union Christian Church Prayer Group.

Susie grew up a “city kid” but married into the farm life. She adapted quickly and while it was not always easy, she did what was asked and was never afraid to get her hands dirty! She would drive grain trucks, bring meals out to the field, and was known to pull a pig or two. Susie was a true “sports” mom even when the family sport was showing livestock. She had no problem jumping in to help, even if was just to be the referee between the 4J’s, she was such a hard worker. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren and would delight in telling others about them.

Susie’s other hobbies included spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandbaby; attending her grandkids sporting events and livestock shows; flying and motorcycle rides with Doug; Traveling; Tending to her flowers and plants; Shopping of any kind from Antiquing to perusing the sales racks at Dillard’s, Belk’s, TJ Maxx or Hobby Lobby and especially playing cards with “The Girls”. She will be greatly missed by all.

Father Tim DeCrane will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday January 31, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church 114 Lancelot Drive in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Monday January 30, 2023 from 3PM until 8PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
