Indian Creek girls basketball routs Edgewood

Class 3A No. 5 Indian Creek put itself in position to win its ninth sectional championship with Friday night’s 60-27 semifinal victory over Edgewood at Owen Valley.

Junior guard Lauren Foster scored 18 points and junior center Faith Wiseman 16 to lead the Braves (24-1). Guard Ayla Lollar and forward Savannah Hall chipped in six points each, with Lollar also good for five assists and four steals.

Senior guard Abby Fleetwood came through with seven rebounds, five assists and five steals. Wiseman led all rebounders with eight.

“I was proud of how we came out relaxed and were us again,” said Braves coach Brian Ferris, referring to a sluggish performance in the opening-round 44-31 win against Owen Valley. “Our last game, we just weren’t playing like ourselves.

“Tonight, we had good ball movement with a lot of people getting touches.”

The Braves meant business from the start, producing 25 points in the first quarter and cruising to a 41-12 halftime lead.

Indian Creek returns to Owen Valley this evening to face Northview (16-8) in the championship game. The teams played on the Knights’ home floor on Jan. 20, with the Braves winning, 46-29.
