Letter to the Editor: Forgive me, Johnson County

To the Editor:

To the residents and community as a whole of Johnson County, I want to offer to you all the deepest and most sincere apology I’ve ever given. My actions on the day of June 22, 2017 were truly despicable the lasting negative impact I made on the community is something I’m dedicated to doing my very best to counteract as much of it as I can.

I’ve been given a chance during my incarceration, serving a 42-year sentence for armed robbery, to part take in numerous programs that are available. Which have given me a whole new perspective and outlook on life through my addiction recovery and spiritual growth in Christ. I’ve been able to see the many errors in my ways.

I spent most of my life doing the wrong thing for the rest of my life I will only do what’s right and apply myself to being a better person with the years I have been given. I will be now spending only time focused on my rehabilitation and recovery so that one day when I’m granted the opportunity to re-enter the community people can rest assured I’m no longer the same person I was.

For the people who feel I’m not worth a second chance or are not interested in hearing my apologies I understand and respect your opinion and just pray God can change your heart one day. Anyone who does however accept or hear my apologies thank you from the bottom of my heart I won’t let you down in thinking someone can change for the better.

I’m currently in the process of writing a book titled “Truth Two the Youth.” Where I will be expressing why it’s important to not go down the wrong path. This prison sentence had given me the wake-up call I needed in my life.

To the Greenwood Police Department for showing professional restraint and wise nonlethal tactics to take me into custody that day, I understand you men and women are tasked with a very difficult job where you are required to make life or death decisions on a regular basis, know that I’m truly grateful for you guys spared mine.

Even when I was active in my addiction I was never big on making empty promises. So for all it’s worth to the community of Johnson County, I promise to serve my sentence with purpose and fierce dedication to self-help, recovery treatment, rehabilitation and programming myself into a person who God willing one day may be accepted back into the community if given that chance I’d make it my life’s purpose to give back and serve you all in every way I’m able.
