Deana D. McMurray

Deana D. (Skinner) McMurray, age 63 passed away all too soon on Tuesday morning, January 31, 2023 at her home in Nineveh.

She was born April 16, 1959 in Indianapolis, to her parents, Dean L. and Myrna D. (Pogue) Skinner. Deana was a 1977 graduate of Homestead High School in Fort Wayne and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from IUPUI and her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion. She retired in 2016 after 27 years of working in Criminal Justice for the State of Indiana and multiple counties.

Deana attended The Ridge Church in Columbus and previously attended the Garden Church in Franklin. While in high school she enjoyed music and playing the drums with the band Down Yonder and continued playing the drums later in life with the Garden Church band. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Franklin. Deana enjoyed traveling to places like New York City, London, California and her favorite trips were with the grandchildren to Disney World. Her true passion was attending and cheering on both her children and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities such as dance, racing and sporting events.

Deana is survived by her mother, Myrna D. Skinner of Nineveh; children, T.J. (Courtney) McMurray &Shannon (Jason) Sims both of Bloomington and Ben (Leslie) McMurray of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Sophia, Henry, Lucy &Piper McMurray all of Bloomington, Caden &Bryson Sims both of Bloomington and Jackson McMurray of Trafalgar.

Deana was preceded in death by her father, Dean L. Skinner on November 16, 2015.

A Celebration of Deana’s Life will be held on Saturday, February 11th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Style Dance Academy, 1632 Amy Lane in Franklin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center in Morgantown.
