Franklin man charged with child sex crimes

A Franklin man is facing child sex crime charges after police allege he inappropriately touched a teenager three times last year.

Christopher Rubio, 49, is charged with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony. He was booked into the Johnson County jail Tuesday on a warrant.

Franklin Police officers began investigating Rubio after they responded to a domestic battery incident in October. At that time, a woman told police that Rubio had allegedly fondled her teenager, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday in Johnson County Superior Court 3.

The teen told police Rubio had allegedly touched them inappropriately three times from September to October, according to the affidavit. During at least one of the incidents the teen also said Rubio had allegedly been drinking alcohol — which caused him to act differently, the affidavit shows.

The woman also said Rubio had allegedly been drinking more over the past several months, according to the affidavit.

When police spoke with Rubio — who was already at the Johnson County jail for the domestic battery incident — he denied all the allegations. Rubio allegedly said he would never harm a child, the affidavit says.

Rubio remains at the jail on a $9,900 bond. An initial hearing is set for Feb. 9.
