Cougars keep on rolling

Greenwood Christian extended its winning streak to seven games with a 47-42 triumph at Muncie Burris in PAAC playoff action on Saturday evening. Max Booher had 18 points and Blake Shewmaker added 12 for the Cougars (13-6, 3-2).

Women’s swimming and diving wins HCAC

Franklin College’s women finished off their sixth straight HCAC championship on Saturday, finishing 115 points ahead of runner-up Transylvania. The Grizzlies got three individual wins apiece from Caileigh McCafferty (200 IM, 100 and 200 backstroke) and Samantha Phillips (200 and 500 freestyle, 200 butterfly), 1- and 3-meter diving victories from Faith Jackson, three relay wins and single first-place efforts from Kennedy Minter (100 fly) and Regan Hendricks (200 breaststroke).

On the men’s side, Franklin College wound up second behind Rose-Hulman. In addition to two relay victories, the Grizzlies got individual wins from Gauge Creech (1- and 3-meter diving), Kosmo Wojack (400 IM, 200 fly), Jack Burke (100 fly, 100 back) and Vincent Fletcher (50 free).

Men’s basketball snaps skid

Carter Crowe scored 18 points as host Franklin College ended a four-game losing streak with a 63-59 win over Bluffton. Ryan Bostic added 12 points and Trey Flatt 10 for the Grizzlies (13-10, 9-7 HCAC).

Women’s basketball drops fifth straight

Franklin College fell to Bluffton, 67-44, for its fifth consecutive defeat. Jordan Coon had 10 points for the Grizzlies (8-15, 5-10 HCAC), while Megan Kain added nine.

Track and field teams compete

Franklin College took part in the DePauw Indoor Invitational on Saturday, placing fourth in both the men’s and women’s standings. Drew McGaha (600 meters), Noah Sigler (weight throw) and Parker Mullins (1,000 meters) had individual victories for the Grizzly men, with McGaha also running on the winning distance medley relay. For the women, Haley Makowski (600) and Alison Muck (60 hurdles) had first-place performances.
