Foster, Wiseman picked for Futures Game

Juniors Lauren Foster and Faith Wiseman, who have helped power Indian Creek to a 26-1 start, were among the players named to the inaugural Indiana All-Star Futures Game, which will take place June 10 at noon inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The game features current freshmen, sophomores and juniors from the northern and southern halves of the state.

Foster leads the Class 3A No. 5 Braves in scoring at 19.0 points per game. She has reached double figures in all but one game this season, with a high of 35 in a Johnson County tournament win over Franklin. The guard also averages 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals. Wiseman, a 6-foot-4 Indiana University recruit, averages 15.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.4 blocked shots and 1.5 steals. She has 17 double-doubles on the year.

Those two will be joined on the South team by Lawrence Central freshmen Lola Lampley and Aniyah McKenzie, junior Reagan Wilson and sophomore Meredith Tippner of Noblesville, Zionsville junior Emma Haan, Mooresville junior Rachel Harshman, Mt. Vernon junior Ellery Minch, Southridge sophomore Avah Montgomery, Bedford North Lawrence junior Chloe Spreen and Jennings County junior Juliann Woodard.

Foster and Wiseman will also still be eligible for selection to the 2023 Indiana Junior All-Stars, which will be selected later by an Indiana Basketball Coaches Association committee.

Indian Creek plays Bishop Chatard in a semifinal game at the Jasper Semistate on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Should the Braves advance, they’ll play the Gibson Southern-Corydon Central winner for the right to play in the 3A state championship game on Feb. 25.
