Police: Man set fire at Twin Peaks Greenwood construction site

An Indianapolis man was arrested on an arson charge after police say he lit a fire next to the under-construction Twin Peaks in Greenwood.

Colin F. Fishburn, 18, was arrested on a single count of arson as a Level 6 felony. Formal charges will be decided by the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police were called to Twin Peaks, 600 Greenwood Park Drive North, around on March 2 for a reported dumpster fire. A Greenwood Park Mall security officer told officers he saw what appeared to be building material on fire next to the building, and that he saw a man walking away from the area of the fire, according to a Greenwood Police Department report. The building is currently under construction.

At the scene, officers saw several wooden pallets that appeared to have been recently set on fire, as smoke was coming from within the pallets. Officers spoke with firefighters, who said the fire was likely started with lighter fluid. They also had found a piece of burnt plastic that belonged to a lighter fluid container, the report shows.

Around this time, a responding officer was told the man seen leaving the scene was in custody and refusing to answer questions. This man was later identified as Fishburn, according to the report.

Another officer spoke to Fishburn, who then allegedly admitted to starting the fire. Fishburn told police he was out walking after purchasing two bottles of lighter fluid when was saw the pallets next to the building and decided it was a good place to set a fire. He told officers he did not have a reason for starting the fire.

When officers searched Fishburn, they found a plastic piece from a lid of a bottle of lighter fluid. The second bottle of lighter fluid was found along the path Fishburn was reportedly walking, the report shows.

The damage to the pallets is estimated at $600, the report says.

Fishburn was then taken to the Johnson County jail. His bond was set at $1,200 on Friday, which he paid and was later released.
