Vicki Lynn Lake

Vicki Lynn Lake, 74, passed away Saturday morning, March 4, 2023. She was a resident of Bargersville.

She was born January 29, 1949 in Indianapolis to George and Imogene Richards. She married Charles Lake on June 4, 1971. Survivors include her husband Dr. Charles C. Lake of Greenwood; two daughters and their families, Kim Gale (Chris) of Franklin, IN, and grandsons, Kyle and Cole Gale; and Kara Lynch (Paul) of Kensington, CA, and grandson, Luke and granddaughter, Evelyn; and one brother, Ron Richards (Donna).

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Imogene Richards; and two brothers, Mark and Tim Richards.

Vicki loved the Lord and impacted the lives of many. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many. She was selfless, compassionate, and loving to all in her midst. Vicki always had a contagious smile on her face and a positive attitude. Clinging to her life verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), she was brave and strong as she fought a long battle with blood cancer.

In addition to the role of wife, mother, and Nana, Vicki’s creative passion was to share the good news of Jesus Christ in any possible mode. While she directed the Potpourri Players at Community Church of Greenwood (IN) for several years, she wrote more than fifteen full-length dramas, multiple vignettes, and a series of vignettes for Moody Radio. With a BA in English/Education and an MA in Journalism, Vicki taught English and communication skills from junior high to university levels. She served a few years as the editor of One Mission Society, formerly OMS International, an organization with work in more than 50 countries. She wrote four books; two published by Victor Books/Scripture Press, one published by Zondervan, and another published by OMS Int’l. Other ministry interests have included: teaching Bible studies to women, directing women’s ministries, disciplining new believers, and speaking in various venues. She was also a missionary to Australia for one year and has traveled in more than 25 countries.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 8, at Southland Community Church, 5800 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood.
