FRANKLIN, IN.

Donald Wayne Stidham, 82 of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday February 28, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born November 6, 1940, in Benham, Kentucky to Hence and Marie (Smith) Stidham. He married Alice B. (Baker) Stidham on June 14, 1976, in Wise, Virginia, she survives.

He was a 1959 graduate of Leslie County High School in Hyden, KY, received his master’s degree form Cumberland College (now known as University of the Cumberland’s) in Williamsburg, KY, and attended Union College in Barbourville, KY and IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN.

Donald had taught sixth grade, fifth and later four grades at Northwood Elementary School in Franklin, IN for 30 years and had been the basketball coach for several years. He also along with his wife Alice, owned and operated H&R Block in Franklin, IN for 53 years.

He was a member of Amity Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, trustee, and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball and football fan. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy; traveling having along with his wife, Alice visited 47 of the United States of America.

Survivors include his wife Alice B. (Baker) Stidham of Franklin, IN, his children Greg Stidham (Lisa) of Greenwood, IN, James Morgan (Brenda) of Mt. Vernon, KY, Brenda Stidham Cohen (Andrew) of Denver, CO, four grandchildren Raymond Morgan, Tyler Morgan (Kierstan), Lyndsey Stidham, Jacob Stidham (Macy), five great grandchildren Eli Morgan, Noah Morgan, Avery Morgan, Asa Stidham and Amara Stidham, a brother Robert Fugate (Janie) of Arizona, sisters Rose Nell Wilson (Charles) of Williamstown, KY and Ciddie Rice (Wallace) of Wooten, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Brunner Stidham, Warren Stidham, Quenton Stidham, Clayton Stidham and Franklin Stidham.

Friends may call Friday, March 10, 2023, from 4PM until 8PM at the Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Pastor Doug Brown will conduct a service on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 10AM at the Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. A graveside service will follow on Saturday at Blair Cemetery 133 Little Creek Road in Mt. Vernon, KY 40456 with Pastor Ova Baker conducting.
