Franciscan eases visitation guidelines at hospitals

As the volume of area seasonal influenza cases continues to decline, Franciscan Health Central Indiana rolled back visitation restrictions, effective today.

Franciscan, which operates hospitals in Indianapolis, Mooresville and two campuses in Carmel, has announced a return to normal guidelines:

  • Visitor lounges and waiting areas are open;
  • Age restrictions are lifted;
  • Visitation hours remain the same, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Exceptions for end-of-life, perinatal, pediatric/neonatal intensive care, special circumstances will be managed on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the supervisor in units and departments;
  • The number of visitors in a patient’s room continue to be two at a time;
  • Hospital-approved visitor masking remains in place.

Franciscan Health adjusted its policy in accordance with steps taken by the Marion County Public Health Department and the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety.
