Franklin College

Baseball completes series sweep

Matt Earley hit a grand slam in Franklin College’s 18-8 victory during the front half of a Monday doubleheader against Trine, then added three more homers in a 14-1 nightcap rout. Sean Sullivan finished with 5 RBIs on the day for the Grizzlies (9-5), while Jackson Young allowed just three hits over five innings in winning the second game.

Warriors split dual meet

Whiteland’s boys were an 82-44 winner at Edgewood on Monday, while the girls suffered a narrow 67-57 defeat. The Warrior boys took the 4×100 and 4×400 relays and got individual wins from Matthew Wray (100 and 200 meters), Dalton Hughes (shot put and discus), Matthew Nino (1,600 meters), Carlos Ogega (400), Nicholas Christman (300 hurdles), Jamal Nyonteh (long jump), Nyrius Moore-Smith (high jump) and Scott Parrish (high jump). The girls got first-place finishes from Megan Lester (100 and 300 hurdles), Brooklyn Taylor (shot and discus), Tori Jackson (1,600), Kaydence Snedegar (long jump) and Melia Marlin (high jump).
