William L. “Billy” Bay

WHITELAND, IN.

William L. “Billy” Bay Jr., 59, lifelong resident of Whiteland, IN passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023.

He was born September 13, 1963, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, IN to William L. Bay Sr. and Marilynn R. (Barnes) Bay. He married Alicia J. (Chamberlain) Bay on October 2, 1981, at New Whiteland Christian Church, she survives.

Billy was a 1982 graduate of Whiteland Community High School where he was a member and president of the Future Farmers of America, a ten-year 4-H member and member of the tractor club.

He had been a ready-mix concrete truck driver for IMI in Whiteland and previously Burnside Graham Ready Mix Concrete in Whiteland for thirty-three years retiring in 2017. Billy also farmed while raising cattle and show cattle.

He also was a coach and later a member of the board of directors of the Whiteland Little League and a member of Teamsters Local 135 Union. Billy enjoyed participating in tractor pulls, demolition derbies, truck pulls, attending Whiteland High School Football and Basketball games and watching Indiana University basketball. He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Sarasota, Florida, and attending the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY. Billy was also known for his morning coffee at Whit’s Inn in Whiteland.

Survivors include his wife Alicia J. (Chamberlain) Bay of Whiteland, IN, his sons William L. Bay III (Jessica) of Bargersville, IN, Brandon M. Bay (Christine) of Indianapolis, IN, a daughter Alison D. Stewart (Evan) of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren Skylar, Alaina and Braxton Stewart, Riley, Bryson, Elsie and Bowen Bay, Brody Lynch, Bentley and Brooks Bay, and a sister Carol Jordan of Greensburg, IN.

He was preceded by his father William L. Bay Sr. on October 31, 1981, and his mother Marilyn R. (Barnes) Bay on August 15, 2014.

Pastor Seth Amerine will conduct a service on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 4PM until 8PM at the mortuary.
