Lisa Jean Duke

TRAFALGAR

Lisa Jean Duke, 62 of Trafalgar, Indiana went to be with her Savior, March 24, 2023. Lisa was born January 6, 1961 to Arnold F. and Erma Jean (Weddle) Duke.

Lisa was born with Down Syndrome and at that time, there were not any programs to turn to. Along with 5 other couples with Downs children, Arnold and Jean worked hard to start Johnson County Association for Retarded Children. JCARC has grown and helped so many children lead productive lives. Lisa was in the 1st class.

She had a passion to help others. Lisa loved to collect pop tabs to help the Ronald McDonald House. Over the years, she has given hundreds of gallons of tabs. For her 50th birthday, she celebrated by taking 50 gallon buckets of tabs to the Ronald McDonald House by a limousine ride. Her family, friends and church family helped her collect tabs.

She loved watching the Dukes of Hazzard on TV, with John Schneider “Bo Duke” was her favorite. She attended his concert in Nashville, Indiana and got to sit on his lap and had her picture taken.

Lisa also volunteered at Americare Hospice and H&R Block, shredding papers.

She loved people. She was a member of the Morgantown Baptist Church, loved singing and her church family. Lisa has been such a blessing to all that knew her. She loved to color and was always giving her pictures to the Doctors, ladies at the bank and her pastor.

Lisa is survived by her father, Arnold F. Duke of Trafalgar, two sisters, Peggy R. (Homer) Crase and Connie Jo (Dave) Wiley; nieces Rebecca Crase of Kentucky, Amy Jo Doyle of Trafalgar; nephews: Joe Crase of Greenwood, Jon Doyle of Trafalgar and several step nieces and nephews. Lisa had great nieces, Elizabeth Doyle and Alexus Mann; great nephews: Levi Doyle, Blayden Mann, Logan Crase and Wyatt Crase; She will also be missed by several of aunts, uncles & cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Duke.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29th at the Morgantown Baptist Church: 109 W. Elm Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
