County Road 144 speed limit lowered near I-69

A section of County Road 144 near the Interstate 69 interchange will soon have a lower speed limit.

The Johnson County Board of Commissioners approved lowering the speed limit at the interchange from 45 mph to 40 mph, per the request of the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The speed limit will change to 40 mph along County Road 144 less than a mile out from the I-69 interchange roundabout going both directions. The remainder of the road in the county to Whiteland Road will stay at 45 mph.

An engineering and traffic investigation on the design speed for the County Road 144 interchange was completed by INDOT as part of the I-69 project. From the study, INDOT recommended the maximum speed limit change to 40 mph.

The speed limit change will be enforceable when new signs are put up.
