Easter activities abound this month

Hop to it starting this weekend to get in the Easter spirit.

Easter is coming up in a few weeks, and leading up to the holiday, area churches, communities and businesses have planned unique events. So find your way to one of these for an egg-cellent family activity.

Photos with the Easter Bunny, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday through April 8; Greenwood Park Mall, near Von Maur, 1251 US 31 North, Greenwood. Reservations strongly encouraged at whereisbunny.com/mall/1372.

Gnome decorating contest and egg hunt, 8 a.m.-noon April 1, Johnson County fairgrounds; Dog Tags of Johnson County, an organization supporting veterans, has had people decorate gnomes, which visitors can see at the “gnome field” at the north end of the fairgrounds. People can vote for their favorites for a cost, then take part in an Easter egg hunt, broken into age groups, for kids 15 and under starting at 10 a.m. Entry fee is two cans of food per child. Proceeds benefit Dog Tags.

Breakfast with the Bunny, 10 a.m.-noon April 1, Dave & Buster’s, 1251 N. U.S. 31, Greenwood; enjoy a breakfast buffet with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt in the midway, face painting, Easter crafts, and a $15 Powercard. Breakfast with the Bunny and egg hunt, 10:30 a.m. April 1, Maple Grove Elementary School, 3623 W. Whiteland Road, Bargersville; enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancake meal with free face painting for the kids from 10:30 a.m.-noon, with an egg hunt starting at 12:15 a.m. you do not need to attend the breakfast to take part in the egg hunt. Tickets for breakfast are $10 for adults and $7.50 for kids under 18, with a link found at facebook.com/townofbargersville.

Eggstravaganza, 10:30 a.m. April 1, Journey Church of Franklin, 3062 Hudson St.; a unique Easter egg hunt for kids through sixth grade. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos and there will be prizes, including a $150 gift card from Rascal’s Fun Zone.

Photos with the Easter Bunny, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 1, Indiana Realty Pros, 386 Meridian Park Lane, Greenwood; this free photo opportunity features the Easter bunny, who will give treats to anyone who attends. The Bunny will also be outside from 1-2 p.m. so people’s pets can visit with him. Although not required, Indiana Realty Pros will be collecting canned food donations that will be delivered to a local food pantry.

Easter egg hunt, 10 a.m. April 8, DriveHubler.com Amphitheater at Youngs Creek Park, 237 W. Monroe St., Franklin; this free event for kids 2-10 features Strawberry the Bunny.

Easter egg hunt and children’s celebration, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 8, Franklin Church of the Nazarene, 140 W. Branigin Road; take part in an Easter egg hunt, games, prizes, hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, cotton candy and more. All ages welcome.

Easter egg hunt, 11 a.m. April 8, First Separate Baptist Church, 300 Ohio St., Franklin; the public is welcome at this annual family activity.

Providence Easter egg hunt, 11 a.m., Providence Christian Church, 4080 W. CR 100 N., Bargersville; all children in the community welcome. Hear a version of the Easter story, plus the egg hunt, which will be divided by age group.

Easter egg hunt, noon April 8, Mt. Pleasant Christian Fellowship, 2425 S. Emerson Ave, Greenwood; for kids ages 0-12, with four staggered egg hunts for parents to enjoy each age group of their kids. Bunny Brunch and Lunch, noon April 8, The Sycamore at Mallow Run, 7070 W. Whiteland Road, Bargersville; enjoy a tasty buffet, three fun crafts for kids, an egg hunt in the Sycamore vineyard and throughout the grounds, plus a visit from the Bunny. Easter egg hunt, 1 p.m. April 8, Grace Tabernacle Church, 512 W. Center Cross St., Edinburgh; 1,700 eggs to hunt and six Easter baskets to win, one for boys and one for girls in each age: 2-4, 5-8 and 9-13 years old.

Franklin American Legion Auxiliary Easter egg hunt, 1-3 p.m. April 8, Franklin American Legion, 1200 Park Ave.; this event is is open to the public and for kids 12 and younger, starting promptly at 1:30 p.m.

Lewis and Hettie Burton Memorial Easter egg hunt, 1-4 p.m. April 8, Irwin Park, North Main Street,Edinburgh; free and open to all, but the hunt is reserved for children ages 12 and under.

Easter party, 2-3 p.m. April 8, Northwest Park, 1300 Fry Road, Greenwood; Magical Character Parties features a party where you can paint and sing-along with Rapunzel, get a plastic egg from the Easter Bunny with a prize, have photos taken and enjoy snacks. Tickets are $5 for adults, $10 for kids ages 2-12. RSVP by April 5, with a link at Magical Character Parties’ Facebook page.

Dugan Air Annual Easter egg hunt, 2-4 p.m. April 8, Indian Creek High School, 803 W. Indian Creek Dr., Trafalgar; this event will feature prizes, bounce houses and a visit from the Easter Bunny. The egg hunt (with all peanut-free candy) will begin at 3 p.m. for kids 12 and under.

Greenwood Christian Church Easter egg hunt, 2-4 p.m., Greenwood Christian Church, 2045 Averitt Road; take part in an Easter egg hunt, crafts, snacks and story time. There will be a sensory hour from 1-2 p.m. (registration required for sensory hour). In case of inclement weather, the activities will happen indoors.

Scrambled Eggs adult Easter egg hunt, 10 a.m. April 15, Johnson County Park Scout building, 3300 S. Nature Trail, Nineveh; adults get to join in the fun with this grown-ups only event. Bring a basket and dress for the weather. Cost is $10, and people must register by April 7 at 4 p.m. by calling 812-526-6809 or emailing [email protected].

Prince’s Lakes Easter egg hunt, 10 a.m. April 15, Town Hall Park, 14 E. Lakeview Dr., Nineveh; kids are invited to this free hunt, where they can enjoy free fire and police vehicle tours, and get their photo taken with the Easter bunny. The egg hunt starts at 11 a.m., with children divided into age groups.
