How to give and get help in aftermath of Whiteland tornado

Clean-up and recovery continue in Whiteland this week.

Here’s some information about how to help and how to get help:

Volunteer and recovery

A one-stop shop will remain open this week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. People can visit the Clark-Pleasant administration building at 50 Center St., Whiteland to get assistance, direction and help in their family’s recovery from the disaster.

Residents who need volunteer assistance to clean up their property can call 317-671-6521 or email [email protected] to put in a specific request. Volunteers are ready to help.

For volunteering right now, the biggest need is for people to help residents separate the piles of debris at their property between trash/housing debris and tree and limb debris.

Volunteers should check-in and register at the admin building before deploying into the community.

Fundraiser set for Wednesday

The town of Whiteland and Bailey & Wood Financial Group will be hosting a fundraiser for the tornado victims next Wednesday.

“Fundraiser for Whiteland” will take place starting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Bailey & Wood parking lot, 740 Main St., Whiteland. Free burgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks will be provided, along with music.

They will also be collecting donations to help residents in need that were affected by the Whiteland tornado.
