Warriors squeak past Quakers
Two runs in the bottom of the sixth lifted Whiteland past Plainfield, 8-6, on Tuesday. Winning pitcher Kiley Sullivan had three RBIs for the Warriors (5-2, 3-0 Mid-State), while Josslyn Harbert and Emma Piercy delivered three hits apiece.

Grizzly Cubs rally past Falcons
Franklin scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 7-6 triumph over Perry Meridian on Tuesday. Beau Baker hit a two-run homer for the Grizzly Cubs (5-2, 2-0 Mid-State), while Landen Basey had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.
Whiteland drops league battle
Whiteland fell short in a Mid-State Conference game against visiting Plainfield, 6-3. Drew Helton had a pair of hits for the Warriors (2-3, 1-2).
Track and field
Franklin steamrolls Martinsville
Celebrating senior night, Franklin comfortably took both ends of a dual meet with Martinsville. Aubrey Runyon set a school record in the 300 hurdles for the Grizzly Cubs girls while also winning the 100 hurdles. Other winners on the girls side included Emma Bertel (discus and shot put), Sami Frazier (100 and 200 meters), Abby Demaree (3,200), Morgan Sandrock (high jump), Hailey Stewart (long jump), Hanna Stewart (pole vault), Lauren Klem (1,600), Kathleen Lacy (800) and Ainsley Botkin (400).
The boys swept the relays and got individual wins from Dylan Beverly (200, high jump), J.D. Sever (110 and 300 hurdles), Jake Houston (shot put), Ari Smith (800), Isiah Tunis (3,200), Carson Sommers (pole vault) and Elijah Smith (high jump).
Woodmen boys win at home
Greenwood’s boys won a home meet against Indian Creek, Monrovia and Edinburgh, outpointing the Braves 136-72, with the Woodmen edging the Braves for second on the girls side, 77-76 (Monrovia was first with 83).

Grizzly Cubs edge Owls
Franklin used a balanced lineup to pull out a 177-179 win over Seymour at The Legends on Tuesday. Kadin Gibson led the Grizzly Cubs with a 42, followed by Reid Davidson (44), Jake Lock (45) and Luke Bechert (46).
Warriors end up third
Whiteland came up just short in a three-way meet against Greenfield-Central and New Palestine, shooting 182 as a team to finish nine and four strokes behind, respectively. Will Smith had a 40 and Braydon Paterek a 43 for the Warriors.
Girls tennis
Braves fall to Eagles
Despite a three-set victory from Lanie Swanson and Alexa Sichting at second doubles, Indian Creek suffered a 4-1 loss at Brown County.
Boys volleyball
Royals sweep Brebeuf
Roncalli took care of Brebeuf Jesuit in three sets on Tuesday, 25-14, 25-18, 25-16. Andrew Gallagher led the Royals (11-2) with 15 kills.
