Johnson County recycling event is Saturday

Johnson County Recycling District and Shares, Inc. will host a document shredding and electronics collection events from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The document shredding and electronics collection event is open to Johnson County residents and businesses at 900 Arvin Road, Franklin.

Documents will be collected in locked containers and shredded off-site at Shares, Inc. in Shelbyville. A variety of electronics will be collected during the event, but no TV’s or monitors will be accepted.

The Johnson County Tox Box will be also open for residential use that day from, 9 a.m. to noon by appointment only at 1051 Hospital Road, Franklin. People should visit the website, JCRD.org, to set up an appointment time.

The following items can be collected free of charge at the Tox Box: household cleaning supplies, yard and pool chemicals, automotive fluids, poisons, aerosol can, adhesives, oil-based paint and stain.

No latex paint, batteries, or light bulbs will be accepted.

The Tox Box is for Johnson County residents only. Materials from businesses, contractors or small quantity generators will not be accepted.
