Girls tennis

Warriors edge Woodmen

Cathy Nguyen and Kinsey Shipp pulled out a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at first doubles to help Whiteland get past Greenwood, 3-2, on Thursday. Candace Stephenson and Saphira Brown added points at second and third singles for the Warriors (2-5). Maggie Boyce rallied from a set down to win at No. 1 singles for the Woodmen, while Audrey Poynter and Gracie Gasaway did the same at second doubles.

Braves squeak past Pioneers

Lauren Lewis’ 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 triumph at first singles lifted Indian Creek to a 3-2 home win over Mooresville. Reese Tunell also won in three sets at No. 2 singles for the Braves (2-2), with Lanie Swanson and Alexa Sichting picking up a point at second doubles.

Lancers blanked by Jets

Edinburgh was defeated by Hauser, 5-0, with all five matches decided in straight sets.

Boys golf

Grizzly Cubs defeat Shelbyville

Jake Lock’s 34 set the tone for Franklin in a 157-187 victory over Shelbyville at The Legends on Thursday. Kadin Gibson, Luke Bechert and Connor Diebold each turned in a round of 41 for the Grizzly Cubs.

Edinburgh rolls to victory

Max Blandford was the medalist with a 39 as Edinburgh topped Southwestern, 178-255. Wyatt Burton added a 45 for the Lancers, followed by Gabe Bennett (46) and Mason Calhoun (48).

Roncalli comes out on top

Bayley Schoettle and Nick Stewart each shot 40 in Roncalli’s 167-179 win over Covenant Christian at Smock. Oliver Wellman (43) and Keegan Rand (44) rounded out the scoring for the Royals.

Softball

Lancers hammer Cougars

Kenna Streeval went 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles to lead a 15-hit attack as Edinburgh clobbered South Decatur on Thursday, 14-0. Winning pitcher MacKenzie Bieker struck out 13 in a five-inning no-hitter for the Lancers (3-5, 1-1 Mid-Hoosier) and was one of six players in the lineup with at least two hits.

Trojans get past Bulldogs

Class 4A No. 2 Center Grove held off a late Brownsburg rally to preserve an 8-7 home win. The Trojans improve to 8-1 on the season.

Royals shut out No. 1 Bruins

Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli picked up a 3-0 win at Class 3A No. 1 Tri-West. Keagan Rothrock struck out 12 in the shutout win for the Royals (6-1-1), while Carley Keller had two hits and drove in a run.

Baseball

Edinburgh drops road contest

Edinburgh fell at South Decatur, 15-0, in five innings on Thursday. Jared Myers had the lone hit for the Lancers (1-6, 0-3 Mid-Hoosier).

Track and field

Woodmen boys tie Dragons

Greenwood took on Perry Meridian and host New Palestine on Thursday, with the boys tying the Dragons 80-80 and the girls finishing second. The Woodmen boys took the 4×400 relay and got individual wins from Samuel Grimes (800 and 1,600 meters), William Riley (100), Brett Odgers (400), C.J. Price (high jump), Alexander Kramer (shot put) and Samuel Markowicz (discus). The girls got first-place efforts from Makena Cruse (400 and 800), Lilly Rollings (1,600 and 3,200), Amy Luttrell (long jump and pole vault) and the 4×800 relay.
