College notebook: Jarosinski raises the bar at Tennessee Invite

Indiana University sophomore pole vaulter Taylor Jarosinski, a Center Grove graduate, soared a collegiate best height of 11 feet, 5¾ inches to help the women’s track and field team place third at the Tennessee Invite.

University of Indianapolis sophomore Gabrielle Harrell placed 46th in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 41 minutes, 8.63 seconds at the Flames Invitational.

Louisville junior sprinter Kiyah Yeast was among those named to the Atlantic Coast Conference indoor women’s track and field all-academic team.

Grace College senior golfer Lucy Young placed 23rd overall with scores of 89 and 88 at the Sagamore Shootout.

Freshman Luke Beetz was fifth individually with his two-round score of 149 as Marian men’s golf took fourth of eight teams at the Sagamore Shootout. Teammates Sam Slaughter and Brandon Heffner placed ninth and 25th, respectively.

Senior Noah Gillard tied for 10th overall with scores of 75-75-71 as Indiana men’s golf placed second in its own Hoosier Collegiate.

Vanderbilt hosted the Mason Rudolph men’s golf championship, an event that saw Cincinnati take ninth of 15 teams and senior Sam Jean finish tied for 35th individually with a three-round total of 217.

St. Leo senior Mike Wyman homered and singled in a 9-8 triumph at Auburn-Montgomery in 11 innings.

Morehead State pitcher Grant Herron is now 4-1 on the season after four innings of one-hit middle relief in a 9-7 win over Canisius.

Alabama junior Bryce Eblin scored a run in his team’s 11-1 victory over Mississippi State and another in a 13-0 shutout of Southern Mississippi.

Indiana freshman Tyler Cerny scored one of his team’s runs in a 4-2 baseball victory over visiting Iowa. He had an RBI single and scored a run in the Hoosiers’ 16-13 win against Ball State.

Northwestern senior catcher Jordyn Rudd homered, singled and drove in four runs as the Wildcats softball team defeated Penn State, 5-2. Rudd had a single in a 6-1 victory over Illinois.

Franklin

Franklin College athletes competed in the Manchester track and field invitational, led by Eli Cochrane placing fourth in the men’s 800-meter run in a personal-best time of 2:00.62. Also for the men, Peyton Ruble was 11th in the 400 in 54.41 seconds. For the women’s squad, Ellie Lambert was 13th in the discus with a top throw of 80 feet, 11 inches. Ohio Northern sophomore Jackie Boardman finished runner-up in the pole vault (10-10¾) and fifth in the javelin (94-2).

Indianapolis junior Andrew Bixler placed first in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:13.77 at the Warrior Open track and field meet.

Butler golfer Damon Dickey tied for 36th individually with a three-round total of 229 as the Bulldogs competed in the Hoosier Collegiate.

Greenwood

Taylor senior catcher T.J. Bass delivered a two-run home run in the baseball team’s 4-0 victory over Bethel in the second game of a doubleheader.

Marian freshman Anna Pritchett singled and scored a run as the Knights topped Grace College, 10-1, in six innings. Marian won the second game of the doubleheader, 13-4, with Pritchett singling and stealing a base.

Indianapolis catcher Lexy Rees had two home runs and Dominque Proctor a single as the Greyhounds defeated Maryville, 8-0, in five innings. Proctor picked up a double in the second game of the doubleheader, a 6-1 UIndy victory.

UIndy sophomore Emily Bonser finished second in the hammer throw with a top distance of 48.08 meters at the Warrior Open.
