SYCAMORE, IL FORMERLY WHITELAND, IN
Iris S. Acton, 93, of Sycamore, IL. formerly of Whiteland, IN. died on April 9, 2023 at her home.
She was born on August 29, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN. to John and Hilda (Reiger) Switzer. Iris was married to Larry Acton, who preceded her in death on August 4, 1987.
Iris was a devoted member of the Abundant Grace Lutheran Church in Greenwood, IN and attended the Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore, IL. She was a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Johnson County Extension Homemakers Association, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed camping, needlepoint and crocheting.
Survivors include her three children, Suzanne Tonkin of Riverton, WY., Steven Acton of San Antonio, TX. and Dianne Tom of Sycamore, IL.; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Switzer and her sister, Laverne Switzer.
Her service and burial will be held at a later date.
