Softball

Grizzly Cubs shut out Warriors

Annabelle Richter tossed a four-hit shutout and went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, leading Franklin to a 10-0 home win over visiting Whiteland on Tuesday. Elizabeth Chumbley homered and Emily Fuqua also had three hits for the Grizzly Cubs (6-2, 4-1 Mid-State).

Royals take down Cardinals

Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli beat Southport, 7-1, as Keagan Rothrock struck out 13 batters. Lyla Blackwell had three hits and five steals for the Royals (7-1-1), while Abbey Hofmann added a home run and a double.

Baseball

Warriors hammer Franklin

Whiteland pounded out 15 hits on the way to a 16-5 victory at Franklin on Tuesday. Donavin Woodall, Kayden Ferguson and Drew Helton each drove in three runs for the Warriors (3-6, 2-3 Mid-State), who got four hits from Maalik Perkins and three from Brayden Roy. Max Clark hit a solo home run and Trevor Lauonen had two RBIs in defeat for the Grizzly Cubs (6-4, 2-2).

Cougars run past Twisters

Greenwood Christian rolled to a 13-3 triumph over Oldenburg Academy. Jake Potter had five of the team’s 13 stolen bases as the Cougars improved to 6-3-1 on the season.

Trojans remain perfect

Class 4A No. 1 Center Grove needed 11 innings to come away with a 4-3 home win over Bedford North Lawrence. Christian Brown picked up the relief win for the Trojans (11-0).

Boys volleyball

Franklin takes Whiteland in three

Kaden Baltimore had 15 digs and excelled on the service line during a third-set comeback as Franklin topped Whiteland 25-22, 25-23, 25-19. Zach Newton and Chase Alyea had 15 and 12 kills, respectively, for the Grizzly Cubs, while Charlie Sanders totaled 29 assists.

Boys golf

Woodmen take three-way

Greenwood shot a 169 to finish ahead of Edinburgh (186) and Indian Creek (204) on Tuesday at Hillview. Max Blandford led Edinburgh with a round of 40.

Girls tennis

Lancers can’t slay Dragons

Edinburgh was defeated by New Palestine, 5-0, on Tuesday.
