ROCK THE BLOCK, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. April 22, Center Grove High School, 2717 S. Morgantown Road, Greenwood

The annual Rock the Block race and community event is a springtime tradition that has thrived in the Center Grove area. The event, which features a 10K timed run, 5K family-friendly run/walk and a free kids run, brought out 900 participants and raised more than $32,000 for area charities.

Beyond the race, organizers have planned a day of activities ideal for people of all ages, with food, music and vendors. Information and registration can be found at rocktheblockrun.org.

COOKING FOR A CAUSE, 1:30-4 p.m., April 23, Garment Factory Events, 101 East Wayne Street, Franklin

For local residents who love great food, and supporting a wealth of good causes, Cooking for a Cause is for you. Fifty chefs from throughout the area will cook their signature dish or dessert for the event, which is presented by the Give Back Gals, a group of local women philanthropists. The public will get to vote for their favorite chef by putting money in their tip jars.

Tickets to the event are $35, or $10 for youth under 12. Proceeds from the event go to Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County, the Johnson County Community Foundation, and Leadership Johnson County. Go to jccf.org/cooking-for-a-cause-2023 for more information.
