Prosecutors have dismissed criminal charges filed against a Franklin man accused of rape.

Johnson County Superior Court 3 Judge Douglas Cummins granted a request filed by the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office on April 14 to dismiss charges filed against Travis Drake, 24, of Franklin. Drake was charged in October 2020 with rape, sexual battery, strangulation and criminal confinement, all felonies.

The case was dismissed as prosecutors received information that impaired probable cause, and prosecutors are expected to refrain from prosecuting charges that they know are not supported by probable cause, said Carrie Miles, chief of the Sex/Domestic Violence Crimes Division at the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.
