Business vehicle showdown to benefit White River Twp. Fire

A car detailing service and a national pizza chain are teaming up to show appreciation for the White River Township Fire Department.

Domino’s Pizza and My Baby Detailing share a building on Smith Valley Road, just west of Morgantown Road in White River Township. Dominos brought a custom-designed electric company vehicle to the parking lot in March and company leaders from My Baby Detailing, who had a personalized vehicle since the shop opened a year earlier, knew they couldn’t let the opportunity go to waste.

Workers took a picture of the My Baby Detailing’s GMC Envoy and the Domino’s Pizza Chevy Bolt facing each other in front of the two buildings and came up with a contest idea: if customers voted My Baby Detailing had the best car design, White River Township Fire Department Chief Jeremy Pell would get a free interior detail. If Dominos Pizza got the most votes, all members of the fire department would get free pizza, said Matthew Adams, shop manager for My Baby Detailing.

Voting, which is done in-store at both businesses, started in April and will conclude on June 30, he said.

My Baby Detailing offers services from minor touch-ups and cleaning to ceramic coating and scratch removal. With the contest, the fire department can benefit from local businesses, which can in turn benefit from the exposure the contest gives them, Adams said.

“We’re trying to have a little fun and raise some awareness for our shop, which is fairly new,” he said. “We can engage with the public and it helps the local fire department no matter who wins. We’ll have a little fun, get our name out there and enjoy some friendly competition.”

The competition, dubbed the Smith Valley Shuttle Showdown, will also reward one voter whose name is drawn from the winning ballot box. If My Baby Detailing wins, the voter will get a free exterior detail, and if Domino’s prevails, a voter will get a free pizza dinner, according to a news release from My Baby Detailing.

When they vote, people should leave their name and phone number on their ballot in case they’re chosen, said Josh Brown, night store manager for the Domino’s store.

Workers at the Center Grove area Domino’s location have consistently given back to the community, Brown said.

“We’re always looking out for the community,” he said. “We’ve sent random donations to churches, schools. We have a special deal for schools. They get pizza cheaper than most people because they’ll buy 20, 30, 50, 100 pizzas at discount prices.”

The two businesses asked members of the fire department for permission to run the contest, which they enthusiastically gave, Pell said.

“It’s humbling that people want to do this for us. We’re here to serve the community and have a nice, friendly competition,” Pell said. “I’ve grown up in the Center Grove area and I enjoy seeing so many people engaged with the community. It just warms my heart when the community wants to support us.”
