Here’s the latest on I-69 construction on the southside

More construction work is expected in Morgan and Marion counties for the Interstate 69 project this week.

Work near the County Road 144 interchange will cause lane restrictions on Old State Road 37 south of County Road 144 beginning this week and continuing for two weeks. Paving work in Johnson County on State Road 37 from Olive Branch Road to just south of Bluff Road will start next week, according to a weekly construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

In Marion County, workers finished demolishing the Interstate 465 bridge over Bluff Road, which will be rebuilt. Construction crews are continuing work to remove the I-465 bridge over Harding Street. Both bridges will be reconstructed as part of a larger project to widen I-465 between Interstate 65 and Interstate 70, as workers prepare to finish I-69 in Marion County next year. Construction will cause nightly 20-minute stoppages on both Harding Street and Bluff Road for bridge material removal overhead, INDOT officials say.

Drivers should be cautious driving on I-465 and State Road 37 at night, as most construction work takes place during overnight hours, INDOT officials say.

The most current information about closures and restrictions can be found at 511in.org or INDOT’s TrafficWise app.
