Girls tennis

Grizzly Cubs blank Woodmen

No. 10 Franklin completed a perfect run through the Mid-State Conference with a 5-0 sweep of Greenwood on Wednesday. Chelsie Rayl, Emma Williams and Mallory Luse took the three singles points for the Grizzly Cubs, Kate Pinnick and Kennedy Urban won at first doubles and Meleah Murphy and Emma Sappenfield came out on top at No. 2 doubles.

Trojans top Panthers

No. 14 Center Grove defeated Bloomington South, 4-1. Sloane Small and Emerson Donaldson were 6-0, 6-0 winners at second and third singles, while Ava Beecher and Lauren Dick won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles and Anna Runkle and Peri Small did the same in the second doubles spot.

Softball

Franklin defeats Greenwood

Franklin pounded out 15 hits on the way to a 9-3 triumph over visiting Greenwood on Wednesday. Ellie Chumbley homered for the Grizzly Cubs (11-11-1, 6-6 Mid-State) and matched Corin Dammeier’s two RBIs. Courtney Hankenhoff had three hits in a losing effort for the Woodmen.

Lancers fall to Jets

Edinburgh suffered a 16-2 defeat at Hauser. Gracie Crawhorn drove in both runs for the Lancers.

Baseball

Warriors get past Falcons

Kevin Denham and Kayden Ferguson each knocked in a pair of runs as Whiteland earned a 6-1 victory at Perry Meridian on Wednesday. Drew Helton tossed a complete game for the Warriors (10-9, 5-5 Mid-State), scattering six hits and striking out six.

Braves pick up road win

Indian Creek was a 6-2 winner at North Putnam on Tuesday night. Hurler Arj Lothe gave up just three hits in going the distance for the Braves, who got two hits apiece at the plate from Talan Steinway and Brock Bragg.

Boys golf

Cougars win at Martinsville

Ian Reed shot a three-under-par 33, leading Greenwood Christian to a 175-182 victory over Martinsville on Wednesday at Foxcliff.

Warriors suffer road setback

Whiteland lost to Plainfield, 153-187, at Deer Creek on Tuesday. Brayden Paterek led the Warriors with a 42.

Track and field

Creek girls third in WIC

Indian Creek’s girls placed third of 11 teams in the Western Indiana Conference meet at Edgewood on Tuesday. Memoree Weekley took first in the shot put with a heave of 33 feet, 11 inches for the Braves, who got school records out of two of their runner-up performances (Libby Dowty in the 3,200 and the 4×400 relay team).
