Local coalition to host free firearm safety training

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Johnson County has partnered with a local firearms instructor to provide free firearm safety training for the community on June 2 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Johnson County Deputy DJ Neutzmann will provide training that’s aimed at anyone who wants to gain experience safely handling their personal firearm. The training will cover basic firearm safety including safe storage and handling, along with shooting fundamentals.

Participants should bring their firearm, eye and ear protection, and 50 rounds of ammunition.

The training is limited to 20 individuals, but additional people can attend to watch and learn without firearm shooting or handling. There is a separate ticket option at check out during registration.
