Billy Joe McDonald, 89 of Franklin, IN passed away and received by the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 12:30 AM at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born February 18, 1934, in Franklin, IN to Harold McDonald and Geneva Mildred (Barnes) McDonald. He married Marilyn Jean (Davis) McDonald on September 4, 1960, at Community Congregational Church in Franklin, she survives.

He was a 1953 graduate of Franklin High School.

Bill was a member Jubilee Masonic Lodge 746 in Whiteland where he was past master, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Order of The Eastern Star, Franklin Elks Lodge 1818, and Franklin American Legion Post 205.

Bill was a United States Navy Veteran.

He retired from Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis.

Bill loved God, his family, friends, his community and his country. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn McDonald of Franklin, IN, two sons Pat McDonald (Laura) of Franklin, IN and Mike McDonald (Amy) of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Tyler McDonald, Anthony McDonald, Derrick Pennington, Corey Pennington, Ashley Remington, great grandchildren Stella Pennington, Leon Pennington, Abby Remington, Asher Michael McDonald and Zane Anthony McDonald, a sister Sue Ann (McDonald) Vancleave (Richard) of Franklin, IN, Greg Vancleave, David Vancleave and James Vancleave (Heather).

His parents preceded him in death.

A Masonic service will be conducted on Wednesday May 17, 2023, at 2PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN with the Dr. Reverend Andy Kinsey conduct a celebration of life service to follow and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Wednesday May 17, 2023, from 11AM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Hurricane Cemetery in Franklin with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard and American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard.

A celebration gathering will follow the graveside service at the Franklin American Legion Post 205 1200 Park Avenue Franklin, IN 46131.
