Here’s the latest on I-69 construction on the southside

Work in Johnson and Marion counties for the Interstate 69 project continues to ramp up for the summer construction season.

Paving crews have closed the left lane of State Road 37 near the County Road 144 exit for pavement patch work. Drivers are advised to slow down and move over as the approach the construction site. Work to complete I-69 has continued near the future Southport Road interchange. Drivers who want to exit State Road 37 to Southport Road can take an exit just south of Epler Avenue, where traffic shifts to the left. Drivers can follow old State Road 37 pavement through the Banta Road intersection down to Southport Road, according to a weekly construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Nighttime left-lane closures will take place on Interstate 465 between Interstate 65 and Interstate 70 in preparation for broader directional closures in June. From June 2 to 21, the eastbound lanes of I-465 between I-65 and I-70 will be fully closed as workers continued to prepare to widen I-465 between the two interstates. Drivers can follow a detour from I-70 eastbound to I-65 southbound at the South Split.

The following will also be closed:

• I-70 eastbound and westbound to I-465 southbound and eastbound;

• Kentucky Avenue/State Road 67 to and from I-465 eastbound;

• Mann Road to I-465 eastbound;

• Harding Street/State Road 37 to and from I-465 eastbound;

• East Street/U.S. 31 to and from I-465 eastbound.

I-465 westbound closures in July will follow the eastbound closures, but the two directions won’t be closed at the same time, INDOT officials say.
