Memorial Day program set for Monday at courthouse

The public is invited to celebrate Memorial Day with the annual program at the Johnson County Courthouse in downtown Franklin.

American Legion Post 205 of Franklin is hosting a morning of celebration on Monday.

First up is a performance by Franklin Community Band starting at 10 a.m. Then at 11 a.m. retired Maj. Gen. Martin Umbarger will give remarks, with the Franklin Honor Guard to follow.

Wreaths will be laid by members of the Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Elks Club.

After the program, people are invited to the Legion, 1200 Park Ave., for a pitch-in starting at noon.
