EDINBURGH FARMERS MARKET, 4-7 p.m. June 1, John R. Drybread Community Center, 100 E. Main Cross St.

Summer is on the horizon, and with it, comes the opening of local farmers markets across Johnson County. Edinburgh’s version will be held on Thursday evenings behind the community center.

Organizers have lined up a diverse group of vendors offering a wide variety of products from local growers and producers, artisan items, baked goods and more. Mobowl will be on site serving food during the event, while another food truck serving up mini doughnuts is scheduled to appear.

MUD DAY, 10-11 a.m. and noon-1 p.m. June 2, Freedom Park, 850 W. Stop 18 Road, Greenwood

Not only are you allowed to get muddy at this annual event, it’s heavily encouraged. Greenwood Parks and Recreation and the Greenwood Fire Department has put together a sloppy day of fun where participants age 2 to 10 can roll around in the dirt.

Admission is free, though donations are welcome to benefit the Parks Foundation, supporting the development and enhancement of the city’s parks. People are asked to bring a change of clothes
