12-hour closure planned for railroad work on Earlywood Drive

The Louisville & Indiana Railroad is planning a project to repair the Earlywood Drive railroad crossing in Franklin.

The worn wooden planks that currently serve as a crossing surface will be replaced with a new rubber crossing surface. This work can’t be done while the road is open to traffic, so the work will cause a closure on Earlywood Drive, city of Franklin and railroad officials say.

The Earlywood Drive rail crossing will be closed for 12 hours, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday. To get around the closure, people are asked to use the signed detour route that follows Graham Road, Commerce Drive and U.S. 31.

The same work was completed on the rail crossing on Jefferson Street last week and the road was closed for 24 hours.
