Elder fraud education session Friday on the southside

American Senior Communities is presenting an educational session on how seniors can avoid scams and fraud.

The session takes place today at Rosegate Assisted Living at 7525 Rosegate Drive in Indianapolis from 2 to 4 p.m.

Elder fraud is the act of exploiting older adults for monetary gain, such as financial fraud or identity theft. Fraudsters take advantage of seniors through numerous fear-based tactics, by posing as grandchildren or romantic interests, or emailing about bogus investment opportunities.

Assistant United States Attorney Adam Eakman will be presenting information on common scams, how to identify and recover from them and who to contact.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information and to RSVP visit ASCCare.com/ElderFraud.
