The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding a car sought in connection to two shots fired incidents near Franklin.
Deputies are seeking a grey four-door sedan that was seen on Monday leaving the scene of a shots-fired incident that occurred on the 2700 block of N. Hurricane Road, Franklin. The sheriff’s office had been called to the area at 1:58 p.m. on a report of several shots being fired, the sheriff’s office posted on social media Tuesday.
This incident was the second shots fired incident reported on Hurricane Road in four days.
The first incident was reported on June 9 at 3:43 a.m., when JCSO received a call from a resident that lives on the 4700 block of N. Hurricane Road who said he heard several shots north of his residence. JCSO deputies, along with officers from the Franklin and Whiteland police departments, responded to the area, and a video was recovered of a vehicle speeding off south on Hurricane Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
During both incidents, deputies were able to collect evidence from the scenes. No law enforcement agency has received any reports of homes, vehicles or anything being hit from the random shots, officials say.
Investigators are working some leads right now, and utilizing other investigative tools to find those responsible. In the meantime, they need help finding the grey sedan and the person who was driving it, Sheriff Duane Burgess said Wednesday.
“We want to find these folks and find out what they are doing,” Burgess said.
It appears that the gun was being fired into a field during both incidents. Burgess doubts that different people could be responsible for each incident, though the time difference between them is strange, he said.
“You shoot into a field, you’ve got to know where that round is going,” Burgess said. “It’s unacceptable to do this and we’re trying to get the bottom of it.”
If anyone has any information regarding the incidents, they are asked to call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 317-346-4615 or the tip line at 317-346-4654.
