Car drives into, damages Franciscan Health office in Greenwood

Two exam rooms were damaged Thursday after a car drove into a Franciscan Health medical office in Greenwood.

A car jumped the curb and drove into the Franciscan Physician Network Southeast Family Medicine office, 965 Emerson Parkway, Suite J., Greenwood, around 9:10 a.m. Thursday morning. A patient and a health care worker were inside one of the rooms at the time of the accident but were not injured, according to a Franciscan Health news release.

The driver of the vehicle struck the north side of the building. They showed no outward signs of injuries but did agree to be transported to Franciscan Health Indianapolis for evaluation, said Sherri Glaser, director of operations.

The crash damaged the building’s exterior, breaking windows and causing ceiling tiles to collapse in the two exam rooms. A water pipe also burst, briefly flooding water into the hallway. Water was shut off to the impacted part of the building, the news release says.

Fire department officials responding to the scene said the building was structurally safe. Providers will continue to see patients on the other side of the building, and if patients’ appointments are affected, they will be notified, Glaser said.
